Lewes Women in Business offer a variety of catering Services
Chloe Edwards - Seven Sisters' Spices
Chloe Edwards established Seven Sisters’ Spices Catering & Teaching Kitchen here in Lewes in 2014. With a focus on all things spiced – a joy of the alchemy of spices whole & ground, raw & roasted and the various explosions of flavour they can create - Seven Sisters’ Spices is a home based kitchen providing event catering, cookery courses and a range of delicious hand ground organic spice blends and other larder goods.
The mainstay of Seven Sisters’ Spices business is our weekly Friday Lunch Delivery Service, with a menu going out via email and social media every Monday. Each week the menu features home cooked hot and cold main courses, healthy snacks and desserts. Vegan options are always available with all dietary requirements happily accommodated, as the weekly menu states, you only need to ask! All of our Friday lunches are hand delivered to central Lewes locations free of charge from one of 2 up-cycled Silvercross Prams.
At Seven Sisters’ Spices we pride ourselves on the fact that all of our food is prepared from scratch, and it is the extra little details – chutney, dukkah, preserved lemon, flavoured yoghourts – that our customers often remark is their favourite thing about the dishes they have tasted.
Alongside a passion for healthy and flavoursome food, at Seven Sisters’ Spices we are committed to sustainability in all forms, as reflected in the use of locally grown ingredients (from Chloe’s own garden where possible), on foot deliveries and completely compostable and biodegradable packaging – even down to our labels!
We love working with local businesses, especially when it comes to providing beautiful and delicious food for their guests and clients. We were very happy recently to work with artist Jessica Zoob, creating canapés for her Art Wave private view. We also regularly prepare pre-gig suppers for the bands booked by Union Music, have catered for the annual party at The Hive for the last 3 years and regularly collaborate with Pauline Maniere of VRAC Teashop on various pop up tea parties and suppers.
Chloe Edwards loves to share her passion for cooking through providing a range of cookery courses, either in small groups or 1 to 1 in your home or her own. She has also successfully run children’s cookery birthday parties and offers a range of different courses throughout the year. Chloe is an experienced and qualified teacher, having worked with children and adults of all ages for a number of years.

Hannah’s is a small mobile coffee van providing specialist coffee, teas and home baked treats. Wherever possible I source and support local produce and businesses and am very conscious of providing ethically sourced and environmentally friendly goods. The coffee I use is from Pharmacie, a micro roastery in Hove and the tea is from VRAC, a loose leaf tea specialist based in Lewes. Both companies provide exceptionally high quality and ethical products.
I first came up with the idea of Hannah’s in early 2016. At that time I was facing the prospect of redundancy from Sussex Police, with whom I’d worked for 15 years, and I wanted a complete change of career. As a mum of two young children , who spent a lot of time in play parks in Lewes, I decided to set up a business with a mobile coffee van so that I could visit the local parks and provide people with high quality refreshments.
After a lot of research and the purchase of my little Mega Van, Hannah’s was born!
I currently work on Monday’s and Thursday’s but am hoping that I will be able to do more hours as my children get older. I always post on social media where I am going to be trading each day and I am establishing a regular routine so people will know where to find me!
I am also happy to do local events and have started getting some booked in for the near future. This summer I did two weekend events; A Little Gig at Earwig and Jessica Zoob’s Open Studio. Both went really well and I am keen to do more events in East Sussex.
This year has been quite incredible and I feel very lucky to be doing something that I love in a town that I adore.
Chaula's Indian Restaurant
"The food of India, not Just Indian food"
The ultimate experience in traditional home cooked Gujarati and other Indian regional food.
In 1995 we began selling our home cooked food from our grocery shop in Lewes. The reaction was so positive that it inspired us to sell fresh, as well as frozen food throughout shops in Sussex and Surrey. We expanded the business and moved to Station Street in Lewes.
Further success inspired us to open Chaula’s Indian Restaurant in Lewes 2007 and in Brighton 2012. We believe that Indian cuisine is a combination of subtle taste. Flavours are as varied as the climate and exotic as the people of India. The appreciation of spices and combination is an acquired art and can only be achieved after many, many years of studied blending, cooking and tasting.
At Chaula’s, we value our patron’s opinions and concerns in the modern day world of health consciousness- our scrumptious food is prepared only with Sunflower Oil that is low in Cholesterol and freshly ground spices, without the use of artificial flavours and colourings. I have worked very hard to perfect this art without compromising on taste and authenticity. We are renowned for our signature dishes.
We cater for Parties, Events Weddings or any Celebrations finger food/Curries.
We are confident that after sampling our culinary delights you would agree that there is nothing but the best at Chaula’s. We take pride in welcoming you again and again.
